Day 19. 30 Days of Biking

The idea was simple. Use other people’s money to erect two buildings on stilts in the floodplain and encourage out-of-town restaurants to set up shop.

And when that didn’t work, city leaders finally decided the buildings had to go.

Better late than never folks, but watch out: You may end up giving the people who live here a view of the Illinois River.

Here’s what I saw when I took my Bike Friday tikit for a short trip down the trail today.

One down, one to go.

Wow. Those buildings are not very old. When were they built? How many tenants did they go through? Nothing else could be done with them? What a waste.

Oh, well — a nice day for a ride, for a change! 🙂
